F is for Funday #1

Hello folks, sunday is here and I am bringing you a load of tips for all electro hobbyists.

Tools and devices

If you want to cut anything – from PCB to plastic bag with new electronic parts – you maybe use a knife. But look at this surgeon scalpel…

10 pc 23# Carbon Steel Surgical Scalpel Blades + 1pc 4# Handle Scalpel

It is not only cool, but really, really sharp. So watch out!

There is a lot of cool tools in medicine. For example these bits, you probably know from your dentist:

Handle Dental Tool – Pick, Scaler Mirror, Dental Probe

A mirror is great for looking on back side of electronics, and dental probe (that spiked stick) is great to removing any remains from PCB holes.

Carbon Fiber Composite 6 inch (150 mm) Vernier Digital Electronic Caliper Ruler

You probably known these rulers, made from pure steel. This is a cheap, but pretty precise ruler with digital LCD display with millimeters and inches.

Third Hand with Soldering Iron Stand, Helping Clamps and Magnifying Glass

It is really hard to forget the “micro” in “microelectronics” without magnifying glass and such stand with clamps, sometimes called “a third hand”.

DIY

Need a good lamp for your working table desk? I did too, but no one was suitable for me. So I bought super bright LED panel and smartphone holder and made one tailored lamp just for my needs!

Universal Long Arm – Mobile Phone Holder with Table Clip

Super Bright 12V white light 48 Piranha LEDs

Kits and sets

WeMos

WeMos D1 is the great starting tool for IoT, because it contains processor and WiFi in one pack. With these sensors you can build true IoT sensing applications without any bigger effort. (PS Did I told you that WeMos can be programmed with Arduino IDE?)

WeMos D1 mini starter kit – WiFi NodeMCU / Arduino board, relay, humidity, pressure and temperature sensors, SD card slot, RGB LED

Mega6502

Dave Cheney’s simple computer with 6502 and Arduino Mega.

Arduino Mega 2560

UM6502A CPU

KIM UNO

KIM Uno is a great retro computer remake, based on Arduino Nano. The CPU in Arduino can emulate whole 6502, as well as handle keyboard and display. You can buy ready or ready-made kit from its author, but you can build your own from scratch. You will need this:

Arduino Pro Mini

10pcs 4bit Common Anode Positive Digital Tube 0.36″ Red LED Display

(You will need only two displays, but they’re so cheap…)

25pcs Round Pushbutton 6×6 mm
